This module tries to solve the issue, that only the room owners can change a room to “moderated”. With this module room owners can optionally allow room admins to set rooms to moderated. This is done by chat command.
The commands are only available in rooms where the module has been enabled via ad-hoc command by the owner.
Add to the config optionally:
muc_moderated_chat_inform_admins = trueDefault: true
When enabled, all room admins and owners currently present in the room are sent a private message when the moderation setting is changed, and a usage info when the module is enabled for the room.
On servers with huge rooms this can be disabled, because the lookup who is admin in a room can maybe costly.
The module adds the following boolean field to the MUC configuration form:
Allow Admins to set a room to moderated.
Enable this option for each room where !moderate and
!unmoderate should be available.
Once enabled for a room:
!moderate
Enables moderated chat.
!unmoderate
Disables moderated chat.
Only occupants with admin or owner
affiliation can use the commands.
The command message itself is not delivered as a normal groupchat message.
Module installstion see below. Then enable it under a muc like:
Component "conference.example.org" "muc"
modules_enabled = {
"muc_moderated_chat";
}This module is alpha software. It may change, and it has not been tested across different Prosody versions and MUC configurations. Works likely with Prosody >=13.0
Todo may be inform admins of moderated status even if changed through muc config form.
Contributions welcome
With the plugin installer in Prosody 0.12 you can use:
sudo prosodyctl install --server=https://modules.prosody.im/rocks/ mod_muc_moderated_chat
For earlier versions see the documentation for installing 3rd party modules
